God of War 2 Strategy Guide

Eric Williams called me this afternoon to say he picked up the strategy guide. So I called like 3 or 4 different Gamestops (oh I how hate that store) until I found one. $30 for the limited edition version which includes the art book. Brady Games did a great job with both the art book and the strategy guide itself.

Of course the strategy guide has hella spoilers so pick up at your own risk. But everyone should really pick it up for the art book alone. The amount and quality of concept art that goes into making a God of War still amazes me.

Man... I'm am getting that! The pictures look so details and life-like. I mean, I can take in so much about God Of War and never be full, but I can be semi-content... Derek, I was wondering... If I sent you my copy of God Of War, would you sign it, and find Cory, and some other people, where/whenever they may be and get some signatures? I mean, you don't have to, of course, but it would be fucking great of you.

Hey DD--thanks to you, Eric, and Cory for making the art book a reality for us! I get chills seeing the picture--it will be crazier to have the book in my hands.

DId you see EDGE gave God Of War 2 a 7/10?

Derek Daniels said...

Haha, no i did not. Isn't that what they gave god of war 1 also? Doesn't really suprise me.

EDGE is a british magazine that is notorious for having some of the hardest reviews in the industry. However I find that most of the times the number assigned doesn't always correspond with the text written. I remember for part 1 the review was pretty damn good then the score was just like, '7'. So while I totally respect the magazine I don't just glance at their scores because I find it doesn't always reflect what the reviewer is saying. Although sometimes it does.

Actually EDGE gave God Of War 1 an 8/10 which is a good score. 7 is good as well, of course.

Yeah, take some time to look at the URL above, but right now, there are more important matters at hand... God Of War II... Tomorrow... OMFG!

March 13th... It's here... Man, back during E3 is when I first started hearing things about God Of War II. And now the day of it's release is finally here. Well, I'm going to go buy it right away. I think I'm about 1 out of 2 God Of War fans in all of Lake County (The county where I live). So, no rush, except for the fact I want to play it like crazy. You probably won't hear from me for a few hours... Thanks, Derek...

I was literally only 4-5 people away (from the first 50 people) in the "launch party" line in San Francisco from getting one of those for free.

Even worse, though, is that for whatever reason, the first 50 people were let in and then seemingly sat their for over 45 minutes while me and about 30 other people waited outside. Since I had the game pre-ordered at home (in Chicago), we left when I found out that you guys (the Sony people generally, not sure if you were there or not) apparently left. I had no reason to stay in line any more just to buy the game. I'm not offended as no one knows who I am, just thought that people would stick around until everyone had picked up the game. Oh well... at least I got some cool swag, like a personalized cover (pretty funny actually) and a t-shirt... have to wait until Friday to play the game though.

Ag! Wal*Mart sucks! They didn't have it, but they will tomorrow, or so they say!

Oh My God!!! I NEED to get that artbook some how. I really doubt that's going to come out in Spain... U_U

I'm gonna have to look for some website or something that can sell it to me. I just can't let that book go past. haha

Jeff: That sucks. To be honest with you by the time midnight rolled around most of the team was pretty drunk. So doing 'organized' things at midnight was really hit and miss.

Sucks that I missed you. Not sure if you know what I look like or not but should have just grabbed me as I was walking by. Sorry to hear that you walked away disappointed because no one wanted anyone to have that feeling.

Devin: You pick it up yet? haha

Kevin: You try amazon? Or are they a bunch of bitches and won't ship out of the country? If worse comes to worse and you can't find it online let me know and I'll try to track one down for you and we can work out some deal to where I can ship it to you. But to be honest...i'm pretty damn lazy when it comes to doing stuff like this so try to find it online first ^_^

Reposted with slight modification:

I definitely thought that was a possibility (drunk developers). =) Of course, I didn't see anyone serving drinks, and the whole night may have just felt more subdued to me anyway since I was on just about no sleep due to a 6:30 AM CDT flight that morning (which I also couldn't sleep on.) Not that that probably compares to how developers probably feel for the last 3-6 months of "crunch time", but my flight days (about once a month) are always sort of hazy anyway.

And I'll just say that, while it was slightly disappointing to me, I didn't feel it was really a waste of my time either. I honestly didn't know what to expect from it, since I'd never attended a launch event before (other than picking up my Wii pre-order, but that was just buying the system and not an "event"). My friend, who hasn't even played the original God of War (much less even heard of it) also didn't feel like it was a waste (and strangely enough, the guy in line next to him went to his high school in the Chicago area), and he wants to borrow my copy of the game now. So at least it had that positive effect.

And of course, as I mentioned, the picture probably makes the whole evening worth it anyway. I look like a total idiot, but it's kind of hilarious (ok, maybe just to me, but whatever). I'll probably post it up on my blog once I have the opportunity to scan it in.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet (I'm stuck in the Bay area until tomorrow night), but I'll just thank you in advance for making a great game... that's really what matters anyway. Thanks! =)

Thanks for the offer, but I think I can order it form GameStop's website. The bad side is that the shipping is 30€, plus taxes, and what the actual book costs... the total is nearly 100€!! LOL

I'm willing to pay for it, that's for sure. I'll get the cash ASAP. The artwork of God of War was f*cking awesome, and these must be incredible. I loved that concept art of Kratos with the light blue glow bits and a mask. That one got to me.

I can't wait to grab it. hehe
